The works carried out by the businessman Juan Francisco Rosa in the old Finca Las Salinas hotel, which he acquired more than three years ago to convert it into the Stratvs Hotel, have caused "irreversible damage" to the heritage values of this protected property. This has been warned by the Heritage Inspection of the Cabildo, which has requested the precautionary stoppage of the works, in case they continue to be carried out.
In addition, it points out that the "possible infractions" committed against the Historical Heritage Law of the Canary Islands should be studied, having carried out "a whole series of interventions that apparently were not included in the license granted by the City Council on December 12, 2014".
That permit was granted to "rehabilitate" the old hotel, but Patrimonio detected that the "Era-Alcogida" had been demolished, that "interventions had been carried out in the cistern" and that "dependencies in the back of the house, which were included within the scope of protection delimited in the file of the Municipal Architectural Inventory of Yaiza", had been demolished.
Yaiza stopped the works in 2014
The intervention in the old Las Salinas farm began in early 2014, shortly after being acquired by Rosa. In May of that year, the Yaiza City Council ordered the works to be stopped, since they did not have any type of license, according to the Consistory at that time.
It was after starting the works when the property requested a license for the renovation of the property, which is an old 18th century mansion. Finally, the Consistory granted that permit in December 2014, but what it authorized has nothing to do with what the businessman executed, according to Patrimonio, which more than two and a half years later has proposed that the works be stopped.
