Official statement:
Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) expresses its firm and absolute rejection of the military attack carried out today by the United States against a sovereign state like Venezuela. An inadmissible action that flagrantly violates international law and the basic principles of coexistence between peoples.
NC-BC expresses its deep concern about the human consequences of this aggression, both for the Venezuelan people within the country and for those outside it. In particular, we express our concern for the situation of Canary Islanders and their descendants residing in Venezuela, a country with which the Canary Islands maintain very close historical, social, and cultural ties.
We regret that 2026 begins in the same way 2025 ended, with the use of force and the law of the strongest as the main mechanism for the imposition of some states over others. This dynamic represents a serious setback in international relations and consolidates a scenario in which international legality is systematically ignored.
The attack against Venezuela opens a new scenario of instability in an already fragile global context for world peace and, very specifically, in the Caribbean and Latin American region. Unfortunately, the previous announcements and threats from President Donald Trump have been confirmed with this military action, increasing regional tension and generating a situation of enormous uncertainty.
For all these reasons, Nueva Canarias–Bloque Canarista makes a firm call to the international community and multilateral organizations, the Organization of American States, the European Union, the United Nations, the Spanish State, and the Government of the Canary Islands; so that they act with clarity and determination in defense of international legality, demand the immediate cessation of military incursions into Venezuela, and promote an urgent process of normalization, dialogue, and restoration of legality and peace
- Nueva Canarias reaffirms its commitment to peace, multilateralism, respect for the sovereignty of peoples, and the defense of international law as the only way to guarantee a just and secure coexistence among nations
