New Generations of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has positively valued the announcement by the Government of the Canary Islands on the expansion of the Vocational Training offer on the island, which will include new training cycles and double degrees in strategic sectors.
Specifically, starting next academic year, two new training cycles will be incorporated: the Intermediate Level Degree in Olive Oils and Wines and the Higher Level Degree in Dental Hygiene, to which new double degrees are added that will allow students to obtain more complete training adapted to the labor market.
The president of NNGG Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Ana Hernández, has pointed out that “this expansion of Vocational Training is good news for the youth of our island, because it brings training closer to the labor reality and opens new opportunities to develop a life project here, in Lanzarote and La Graciosa”.
Hernández has also highlighted that “this progress comes in a positive context, with the youth unemployment rate in the Canary Islands at historic lows, standing at around 17%–19%, one of the lowest figures recorded to date”, emphasizing that “measures like this are key to consolidating that trend and continuing to generate real opportunities for young people”.
In this regard, he has highlighted the incorporation of double degrees, indicating that "they allow young people to be better prepared in less time, which translates directly into greater employability and more real opportunities to access the labor market".
Lastly, he insisted that “continuing to strengthen Vocational Training must be a priority, because talking about VT is talking about employment, about the future, and about young people being able to stay in their land if they wish”.
NNGG Lanzarote and La Graciosa "reiterates its commitment to quality training, connected with the reality of the labor market and focused on generating opportunities for the youth of the islands".
