Nine officers have joined the Arrecife Local Police this Monday. The police officers have taken office, after having finished their academic training, which included 120 hours in the workplace as required by the last Module of their academic training.
Likewise, before being recognized as career police officers, they had to complete 1,200 hours as trainee police officers. "Arrecife is a complicated city and it is always positive to have new officers who guarantee security," defended the Councilor for Local Police, Jacobo Lemes.
The councilor has recognized that "the desirable thing would be to have many more officers" and highlighted "the close collaboration" that the Arrecife Local Police maintains with the members of the Civil Protection volunteer corps. In addition, he recalled that throughout the last year "two very important units have been launched".
"Both the Citizen Security and Intervention Unit (USCI) of the Arrecife Local Police and the Motorcyclist Unit, mainly dedicated to traffic control and regulation, are fulfilling their functions," Lemes defended. "The safety of the citizens of Arrecife is a priority for this government group and we are going to continue working so that this area has its needs covered," the councilor assured.
