Arrecife advances in the implementation of its first municipal theater, a cultural infrastructure that very soon will be a reality in the Civic Center and that will represent an important qualitative leap for the scenic and cultural programming of the capital.

The deputy mayor and head of the Contracting Area, Echedey Eugenio, and the councilor for Culture, Abigail González, visited the works this Friday to check on site the progress of the adaptation works of the space, which are developing as planned.

The future municipal theater will transform the old Multipurpose Room of the Civic Center into a modern and versatile stage space, with a useful area of 365 square meters, a main stage and capacity for 380 spectators.

One of the most outstanding elements of the new equipment will be the incorporation of retractable stands, also described in the project information as rotating telescopic stands, which are added to the fixed seats and those intended for people with reduced mobility (PRM).

This solution allows the room to be adapted to different uses: with the stands deployed, the space functions as a conventional theater; when they are retracted, the room is freed up to host cultural events, presentations, conferences, screenings, or other open-format activities.

The infrastructure will also feature a state-of-the-art technical lighting and sound system, designed to offer quality in performances and flexibility in programming. Added to this is audiovisual equipment, including a projector, which reinforces the multipurpose nature of the hall and expands its usage possibilities.

The staff of the Culture Area is receiving specific training to correctly handle the new infrastructure and all its technical elements, with special attention to the use of the retractable stands, the sound systems, the lighting, and the rest of the stage resources.

During the visit, Abigail González pointed out that “Arrecife finally has a multipurpose theater hall, with retractable seating, projector, and quality sound,” and remarked that from Culture they will continue working so that the city has quality spaces for the celebration of cultural events and for the enjoyment of the population and groups.

For his part, Echedey Eugenio highlighted the investment allocated to this project, amounting to 951,317.93 euros plus 66,592.26 euros of IGIC, and emphasized that it is "a new infrastructure at the service of the culture of our city" and a firm commitment of the governing group with Arrecife.

The new Municipal Theater of Arrecife is conceived as a multipurpose space intended to host theatrical, musical programming, and events of various kinds, with the aspiration of becoming a cultural benchmark for the capital of Lanzarote.

Its opening, scheduled for the coming months, will finally allow the city to have a first-class performing arts venue, designed to expand the cultural offering and respond to a historical demand from the citizenry.
