The insular executive of Nueva Canarias-Canarian Bloc (NC-BC) in Lanzarote met on the afternoon of this past Monday to express its emphatic rejection of "the repeated lies" of the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo (Canarian Coalition), and of the insular president, Oswaldo Betancort (CC), with the incorporation of "medicalized and rescue helicopters" committed for the island.
From NC-BC they have denounced that an expectation has been generated that has not materialized, "playing with an essential need such as the reinforcement of urgent health transport and the response capacity in emergencies." Thus, the nationalist formation has denounced that this non-compliance "evidences a serious lack of commitment to Lanzarote and to the safety of its citizens."
In this regard, he recalled that during the election campaign President Fernando Clavijo assured that each island should have a medicalized helicopter, a commitment that, to date, he has not fulfilled. Similarly, they point out that Oswaldo Betancort publicly announced the purchase of a rescue helicopter with the Lanzarote Cabildo's own funds, a promise that has also not materialized. For the Canaristas, it is a succession of unfulfilled promises that can only be described as “lie after lie”.
In contrast, the Insular Sábor of Lanzarote has wanted to convey its congratulations to the society of Fuerteventura for the achievement of this important health resource. An achievement that, according to them, has been possible thanks to the political and parliamentary unity of its representatives, who have known how to firmly defend the interests of their island.
NC-BC has stressed that the situation in Lanzarote once again highlights its relegation within the priorities of the Government of the Canary Islands, due, to a large extent, to "the inability of the deputies who support it to make their votes count". In this regard, the organization has particularly pointed out the responsibility of Oswaldo Betancort, who, in addition to presiding over the Cabildo of Lanzarote, holds a seat as a deputy and, according to them, "has not known how to translate his institutional position into real progress for the island".
The Canaristas have warned that Coalición Canaria, in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and at the head of the Government of the Canary Islands, is leading the island towards "a state of healthcare abandonment never before seen".
Denounces the rejection of several health services in Lanzarote
The party has denounced "the attempt to dismantle the Insular Hospital, the attempts to privatize socio-health care services, the refusal to implement a 24-hour Emergency Service in the north of the island, as well as the blocking of essential infrastructures such as the Argana Health Center, which remains stored in a drawer, and the budgetary cut in the Playa Honda Health Center".
Finally, the formation has concluded that "opportunities cannot continue to be lost due to the lack of leadership and firmness of those who have the responsibility to defend it" and has demanded the immediate fulfillment of the commitments acquired in terms of health transport and emergencies.
