The president of the Local Committee of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc) in Teguise, Belén Machín, wanted to express the "outright rejection of her organization to the working conditions that the cleaning workers of the educational centers of the municipality are suffering, who denounce non-payments in the payrolls, deficiencies in the service and neglect by the awarding company".
According to the Canarian, "the awarding company is having a terrible treatment with its workers, who are overwhelmed and distressed by the lack of commitment." This has caused, expresses Machín, that "the city council has to "pull" its own staff to do the cleaning service, since the company does not comply with the contract."
To the astonishment of NC-bc, this same company has been renewed again to provide these services without any demand for improvement by the conservative government group of CC, PP and the councilor who defected from Vox. A decision that for the Canarians is "irresponsible" and denotes a lack of sensitivity towards the workers of both the company and the city council itself, who must make an extra effort to attend to a service that is not their own responsibility.
"Renewing the contract to a company that repeatedly fails to comply with its workers is neither ethical nor aesthetic, since it leaves the City Council as an accomplice and participant in the working conditions of a company that benefits from public money for providing a service, and that this is also deficient," says Belén Machín, who sees it necessary that "the government group demand "responsibilities" from the company for charging without fulfilling its tasks."
With everything, from NC-bc they support the workers in charge of cleaning the educational centers in any action they want to take to preserve their labor rights.
