NC: "Clavijo's speech in the State of the Nation Debate is absent from the reality of the yellow islands"

For the Canarian nationalists, President Clavijo's speech "has not addressed the serious situation experienced by the citizens of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura", such as housing, water, the price of food and fuel, and tourist overcrowding.

The parliamentarians of Nueva Canarias from Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, Natalia Santana and Yoné Caraballo, have assessed the speech of the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, in the Debate on Canarian Nationality, as "absent from the reality of the yellow islands."

For the Canarian nationalists, President Clavijo's speech "has not addressed the serious situation experienced by the citizens of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura", who suffer from "tension in multiple areas such as housing, water, the price of food and fuel, and tourist overcrowding that is affecting the territory and the landscape."

Thus, the assessment made by the Majorera deputy is one of "disappointment and lack of knowledge in the matters concerning Fuerteventura" in relation to the "serious problems that the residents are experiencing, day after day, with water cuts and considering that the measures presented by Clavijo are insufficient to alleviate this situation." Furthermore, the president of the formation in Fuerteventura points out, "it is unheard of that he has not said a single word about the situation of the Olivia Beach workers who are waiting for a solution to their situation of job uncertainty; about the maritime line with Tarfaya that generates discomfort in the Majorero primary sector; or about the critical position of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura regarding the Housing Decree-Law."

For his part, Yoné Caraballo points out the "demagogy" of the highest official of the Canarian executive when saying that "all citizens and islands of the Canary Islands are equal." Thus, Caraballo recalls that in these eight months of legislature there has been a "discriminatory treatment in the decisions of the conservative government of CC and PP towards Lanzarote", which is evidenced in "the reduction of territorialized investment for the island, which falls to fifth place very much on par with La Gomera; or the refusal to implement essential services such as the Mental Health Subunit in Emergencies or the medicalized helicopter."

In addition, the Canarian nationalists again mention the "refusal" of the Canary Islands government to "subsidize fuel" to the "yellow islands" as they already do in the "green islands" of El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma. "He has avoided talking about inflation and the shopping basket that is suffocating the people of Lanzarote and Majorera. Clavijo came to the government promising to make policies to alleviate the middle and working class, and the first thing he does is lower taxes for the richest and increase the size of the government, being currently the most expensive executive in history," the Canarian nationalists sentence.
