Nueva Canarias believes that it has "demonstrated in Congress the scam in the Islote del Francés that the leadership of Coalición Canaria wanted to do in Arrecife." "The scam that CC wanted to carry out on the citizens of Arrecife in the Islote del Francés was simply an attack against the city," the party has stated, which points out that "both San Ginés, as well as Echedey Eugenio, through the councilor of Arrecife Samuel Martín, intended to give away a seven-story building, with a surface area five times larger than the SXXI building, to someone who can barely build a few meters as it is affected by a 100-meter maritime boundary by Costas."
From Nueva Canarias they affirm that they were always "attentive" to this piece of land. "For this reason we studied the General Plan, where it was intended to give a monstrous buildability to the businessman, which would destroy the Arrecife coastline, irreparably and forever," the formation points out, which believes that "this is what explains that CC was in such a hurry to approve a document in which Arrecife is definitively condemned to be a city without views, without parks, without green areas and without public infrastructures, in favor of land speculators."
Therefore, he believes that the efforts made by his deputy in Congress, Pedro Quevedo, "should not lower his guard, since he considers that "Coalición Canaria is willing to destroy the future of our city in favor of the usual ones."
For Nueva Canarias, "Arrecife has to consolidate itself as the city with the highest quality of life in the Canary Islands, and this includes green areas, infrastructures and preventing our marina from ending up in the hands of unscrupulous politicians." Finally, the party commits "to assess the possibility of a public expropriation, so that in the future, the Islote will be the reference leisure area of the city and Lanzarote."
