Nueva Canarias (NC) is considering filing a complaint against the director of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), Adasat Goya, for revealing medical data of its deputy Yone Caraballo this Friday in the regional Parliament, for which it also requests his immediate dismissal.
This was announced this Saturday by the general secretary of the political party, Luis Campos, who, in statements released by the party, said that the disclosure of these "highly protected" personal data of Caraballo by Goya in the parliamentary health commission held this Friday, where the head of the SCS responded in this way to the criticism that the NC parliamentarian made of the healthcare waiting lists, may constitute a crime.
Campos assured that the "aberrant" situation that occurred this Friday in the Canarian Parliament is also "unprecedented", at least in the ten years that he has served as a deputy in that house.
The leader of NC regretted that a member of the Government did not respond with data and arguments to the criticism made by the opposition, "but with personal attacks that could constitute a crime", since they imply "the disclosure of the medical history of a deputy", Yone Caraballo, who is a nurse by profession.
Campos also stressed that Goya's statements about Caraballo, whom he reproached, he said, for having taken medical leave in the midst of the covid 19 pandemic to occupy a management position.
For NC, what happened this Friday is a practice typical of "political bullying" which, therefore, "disqualifies" Goya from continuing to hold a public office, such as the direction of the SCS.
Campos has defended that the SCS should have "responsible and decent people" at the helm, "and not any scoundrel who uses personal data to attack the political adversary."
In his opinion, Goya "should have submitted his resignation" at the end of the parliamentary commission this Friday "because you can never engage in personal attacks."
"If he does not do so in 24 hours, NC will demand that the regional minister and president dismiss him immediately", otherwise, Caraballo's party will understand that "they will be politically responsible for having someone in charge of Canarian healthcare who is not qualified to do so."
