The spokesperson for Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo (MRT), Antonio Morales, has denounced the "incomprehensible" water cuts that Tinajo has been suffering from "for many years" and the "complicit silence" of the government presided over by the mayor of Coalición Canaria, Jesús Machin.
“We cannot understand the passive attitude of the mayor of Tinajo in the active defense of his neighbors against the breaches of Canal Gestión with our municipality, the silence of the mayor who does not raise his voice to ask Canal Gestión and the Water Consortium for immediate solutions to end the water cuts in the municipality is devastating,” said Antonio Morales.
From the Tinajero municipal formation they recall that the mayor "is a member of the Insular Water Consortium, which is the body that has signed the Integral Water Cycle contract with Canal Gestión Lanzarote", and that it is in that entity "where he has to express his discontent with the service and demand immediate solutions", but "the municipal mayor has done none of this, despite the fact that in the last plenary session we asked if any action had been taken to urge the company to comply and supply water", but the only response that MRT found was the mayor's "incomprehensible anger" with his particular way of responding "blaming the opposition for the cuts, something totally unheard of".
“Tinajo cannot remain impassive in the face of the cuts and the poor service that is being provided to our neighbors who religiously pay their taxes and fees for the use of water, and they do not deserve the mayor to seem more like the CEO of Canal Gestión than the defender of the interests of Tinajo, we have been asking for years through initiatives in the plenary session that the mayor convey to Canal Gestión the great discontent existing in the municipality in the face of the continuous water cuts without any success", Morales sentenced.
In addition, MRT shows its "surprise" with Canal Gestión's resolution to claim from the Tinajo City Council, via administrative litigation, "economic amounts supposedly owed for the use of water in the consistory".
