The desire to have a good time at the Playa Blanca Music Run Night almost equals the competitive spirit that each athlete carries within, and it is that both the aspirants to win in the three foot race distances, one mile (1.6 km), 5 and 10 kilometers, as well as the bulk of women and men enrolled, gather every year-end in the southern tourist center moved by the festive atmosphere of this event organized by the City Council of Yaiza that adds sport, live music and recreational activities.
This year, in its fourth edition, the Playa Blanca Music Run Night exceeded 350 participants of all ages, being by far the 5 km distance the one with the highest number of registered with 150. The day of Friday, December 6 was animated by the tests of boys and girls of short distances adapted by age groups by the central Papagayo Avenue, while the night of Saturday 7 was the turn for the three distances of adults, although there were minors who authorized by their parents ran the mile.
The images confirm the high participation of public and the follow-up to the test both in the most central area of Playa Blanca, as in different points of the Maritime Promenade, Limones street and Paseo de la Sal. The victory in the queen test of 10 km was scored by Tinguaro Quintero (38:12 min), accompanied on the podium by Edwin Duque and Javier López. The best classified females in this distance were Elizabet Perdomo Cabrera (49:07 min), winner and neighbor of the municipality of Yaiza, escorted by Lynn Cutler and Valeria Camejo.
The result of 5 km leaves in the honor roll to Hugo Pérez (18:12 min), Bruno Castro and Luis Álvarez, highlighting in the female classification Fayna de León (24:40 min), Lucía Teja and Idaira Rodríguez. In the mile, Joel Concepción triumphed (4:52 min), Jorge Prados and Thomas Oliver, a fast distance in which Iballa Rodríguez (6:18 min), María Marcos and Valentine Giraud shone among the females.
The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, felt in situ "the atmosphere made by athletes who practice sports on a regular basis, including some professionals, and families who enjoy an attractive day full of music, lighting and color." For his part, the Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, also emphasizes "the sports promotion among young and old and the economic impact of these events on local businesses. The managers of bars and restaurants can attest to an unquestionable fact."
Positive assessments also come from the participants. For Tinguaro Quintero "the test is spectacular and the truth is that it is very lively to run in these Christmas dates where we all live and perceive the festive atmosphere." Elizabet Perdomo noticed this year "much more atmosphere, more people along the route applauding, and that makes the people of the south feel complicit in this sports activity. We hope more editions will come."
The City Council of Yaiza appreciates the support of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, represented in the event by the non-elected Councilor for Sports, Juan Monzón, and the collaboration of all the people and entities committed to the test, as well as the work of the municipal staff and the volunteers of the Triyaiza Sports Club.
