Mencey González Wins 'VII Canary Islands Painting Contest for Gender Equality'

The objective of this initiative is to promote commitment to values education from institutions and collaborating entities.

The PSOE of Lanzarote has congratulated Mencey González, winner of the VII Canary Islands Painting Contest for Gender Equality promoted by the Gender Violence Unit. The Island Directorate of the State Administration, through its director, Pedro Viera, has proudly attended the awards ceremony for the winner of the VII Canary Islands Painting Contest for Gender Equality.

This is a contest that seeks to promote the values of equality among students in educational centers of the archipelago. This year, the winner was the 5th grade student of CEIP Ajey de San Bartolomé, Mencey González Sosa, who stood out for his artistic talent and the inspiring message of his work.

The event, which was held at the educational center's facilities, was presided over by Pedro Viera, Island Director of the State Administration in Lanzarote, Isidro Pérez, Mayor of San Bartolomé, who wanted to "congratulate the young winner and his family for the effort and dedication reflected in his work, and by Mónica de León, councilor for equality of the municipality".

Viera highlighted the importance of initiatives like this to build a more just and egalitarian society from the earliest stages of education. "Promoting gender equality values among the youngest is not only a responsibility, but also an investment in the future of our society. The creativity and commitment of students like Mencey González Sosa are an example for everyone," he stressed.

"Mencey has demonstrated exceptional talent and great sensitivity towards a topic as relevant as gender equality. His work reflects not only creativity, but also a powerful message that we need to make visible. We also congratulate his family, whose support has been fundamental in this achievement," he added.

The VII Canary Islands Painting Contest for Gender Equality is organized by the Gender Violence Unit, coordinated by Margara Bello, with the aim of promoting commitment to values education from institutions and collaborating entities. In this sense, Pedro Viera also wanted to thank the teachers of CEIP Ajey for encouraging the participation of students in initiatives like this, which enrich the integral formation of the children of the Canary Islands.

"The Island Directorate will continue to support projects that promote social change and that place equality as a priority axis in the formation of new generations," they concluded.
