The Lanzarote Water Consortium has opened the bidding period for the tender, through a simplified open procedure and urgent processing, for the improvement works of the drinking water network in the nucleus of Masdache, an action that is carried out in the municipalities of Tías and San Bartolomé.

The project includes the renovation of a section of approximately 900 meters of network through the installation of a new 90-millimeter diameter PVC-O pipe, as well as the replacement of manholes, valves and necessary connections to optimize the system's operation and improve the quality of the supply service. The action is located on road LZ-30, between kilometer points 11+000 and 12+000.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and of the Water Consortium, Oswaldo Betancort, has emphasized that “we are promoting the modernization of hydraulic infrastructures to guarantee a more efficient and secure supply”.

Likewise, Betancort has pointed out that “this action responds to a real need of the area, where the current network presents limitations that hinder the supply in optimal conditions, which is why we are advancing in the improvement of the island's hydraulic system”.

The base bidding budget amounts to 123,461.48 euros, fully financed through the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), within the framework of the Lanzarote 2016–2025 Strategy.

The vice-president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and councillor for Planning and Project Coordination, Finance and Contracting, María Jesús Tovar Pérez, has highlighted that “financing through FDCAN funds allows for the execution of strategic actions like this one, which directly contribute to the improvement of basic services and the modernization of the island's public infrastructures”.

The Water Councillor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Domingo Cejas, has pointed out that “this governing group has a defined roadmap, with clear ideas about where to intervene, and a schedule of investments and execution of hydraulic works that are at the service of the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa”.

The urgent processing of this tender is justified by the situation of water emergency declared in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, which obliges to "accelerate actions aimed at reinforcing the supply system and guaranteeing its effectiveness".

Interested companies may submit their offers until next April 17, 2026, within the framework of this contracting procedure. The execution period for the works will be three months from their start.
