The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has once again been elected to be part of the Federal Committee of the PSOE during the 40th Congress of the Socialist Party held this weekend in Valencia.

The Federal Committee is the highest body between PSOE congresses and its mission is to collaborate with the Federal Executive Committee in the government of the organization, also being responsible for the control and approval of the work of the Federal Executive.

Corujo affirms that she will try "to represent Lanzarote with clear objectives where people come first. I am convinced that the government actions that have been taken in Lanzarote so far have been recognized and that is why the island has representation"

Corujo adds that the socialist party at the national level has set its sights on Lanzarote for "our tireless work to place the island as an example of sustainability and a unique place for tourism, as well as our leadership against the global pandemic and our democratic exercise. We should feel satisfied, proud and with the strength to continue working for Lanzarote. It is an honor to be part of our highest body again and it represents an opportunity to improve Lanzarote's dialogue at the federal level"

More Canarian presence

The President of the Government and General Secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, has designed a Federal Executive Commission (CEF) of 42 people, which includes the integration of six of his new ministers - three of them, in charge of an executive secretariat - and an important generational change, with an average age of 47 years.

The general secretary of the PSOE of the Canary Islands and president of the autonomous government, Ángel Víctor Torres, has highlighted that the president of the government and general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, "has once again demonstrated his commitment to the Islands with the formation of the new Executive and the Federal Committee, in which the PSOE of the Canary Islands improves its representation", going from six to seven members.

In statements to the media, Ángel Víctor Torres has said he is "very happy" and "satisfied" because the new Executive Commission will include the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, as Secretary of Health and Consumption; Luc André Diouf, as Secretary of Migration and Refugee Policies, and Héctor Gómez, spokesperson for the PSOE in Congress.

He also highlighted that the Federal Committee will include the mayor of Candelaria and president of the Fecam, Mari Brito; the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and insular secretary of the PSOE, Dolores Corujo; the mayor of La Laguna and local secretary of the PSOE, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the MEP Juan Fernando López.
