The Vice President of the Canarian Government and Minister of Economy, Manuel Domínguez (PP), said this Friday that the fuel bonus in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura "is not easy", as it depends on how "the average" of the price is in those islands and on the studies being carried out by the Ministry of Finance.
In statements to journalists during a visit to Santa Cruz de La Palma, Domínguez admitted that it is difficult to take homogeneous measures throughout the archipelago and pointed out that the bonus of 20 cents per liter of fuel in the so-called green islands -La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro- "is a matter of days" and is only pending a report from the Advisory Council.
The spirit of the measure is to "avoid the loss of competitiveness" and reduce the effects of double insularity in islands such as La Palma.
"What is clear to us from the Government is that we have to alleviate the pressure that exists in the non-capital islands linked to double insularity. We are drafting a report to find out what the differences are, not only in fuel, but also in other products and services in order to take measures to help islands such as Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and also the green islands," Domínguez concluded.
