The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, spoke this Wednesday on Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero to announce the opening to traffic of Manolo Millares street in the capital starting this Wednesday. This afternoon the signaling work will be completed and this avenue, one of the main arteries of the city, will be opened.

"To avoid collapsing the city's traffic, we proceeded to asphalt during the early morning, especially in the educational environments of the area. We have the Las Salinas school, La Destila and Zerolo," added de León during the interview. These tasks have been carried out in a planned manner, and to minimize inconvenience to residents, merchants, educational centers and traffic.

Parallel to the completion of the last layer of asphalt, at the level of the new rainwater network installed in the subsoil, the new road signage of this road has been marked, between the crossings from the La Destila school to the area of the IES Las Salinas.

Days ago, the company carried out the resurfacing work at the intersections with Mexico, Almirante Boada Endeiza, Valls de la Torre, El Greco and Guinea streets.

After these modernization works on this neuralgic road, Manolo Millares street, from Eugenio D'Ors street to Guenia, will have three lanes. Two of them will be exit lanes and one entrance to the city center, in the direction of the road that connects with the César Manrique Airport towards Valls de la Torre and Mancomunidad Avenue (El Reducto beach area).

More work during the next week

The trees planned in this new promenade of the city (after widening the sidewalks to make them accessible), will be planted throughout the next week. The new lighting network is installed and operators of the firm are working on its fine-tuning for its future connection and ignition.

In the subsoil of this section of Manolo Millares, the new network and connections for rainwater have been installed. In a future phase, that network will be extended to the next section of Manolo Millares street, between Guenia street and the old Arrecife cemetery, where a black spot in the city is located in times of heavy rain.

"I apologize to the neighbors because all work generates its inconveniences," concluded the mayor during his speech.
