The Cabildo of Lanzarote has put out to tender the surveillance service for the Los Volcanes Natural Park, a contract whose sole objective is to protect, conserve, and maintain one of the most important natural enclaves on our island.

This contract has an investment exceeding one million euros - including 384,916.11 euros for the last six months of 2026 and a possible one-year extension - and is financed through the Canary Islands Development Fund, which is managed by the Planning and Project Coordination department headed by the vice-president, María Jesús Tovar.

“With this contract, we aim to decisively eradicate uncivil or inappropriate behavior that puts the integrity of this protected landscape at risk, ensuring that both tourists and residents can enjoy a space that is fully respectful of the surrounding geology,” assures the vice-president, María Jesús Tovar.

The Minister of Environment, Samuel Martín, maintains that this contract includes the deployment “of a multidisciplinary team responsible for directly carrying out essential conservation tasks”. “Specifically, the service will have a team of rangers who will be in charge of controlling access and security in the area, operators dedicated exclusively to cleaning tasks, and maintenance personnel focused on the restoration and continuous care of the park's infrastructure,” he adds.

One of the major innovations of this initiative is the incorporation of environmental educators with proficiency in foreign languages. This staff will be responsible for assisting visitors on-site, informing them about the rules of the space, regulating capacity, and promoting sustainable mobility guidelines. They will also carry out periodic awareness and outreach campaigns to educate users on environmental care, ensuring that the tourist experience coexists in perfect harmony with the preservation of natural heritage.

Companies interested in this contract have until June 23rd, at 09:00 AM, to submit their bids through the State Contracting Platform.
