The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Transport, headed by councilor Miguel Ángel Jimenez, will launch the expansion of the Taxi-Bus service in the town of El Golfo starting December 1st, thus reinforcing the connectivity of this nucleus of the municipality of Yaiza with the island's public transport network.
The island institution maintains that this service is provided in areas where the direct provision of the regular bus service is not viable.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, indicated that this initiative is part of a clear strategy to reach all points of the island's territory. "We have managed to increase frequencies on our regular routes, but there are places we cannot reach with buses for various reasons. That is why we are promoting the Taxi-Bus service, as a real and effective solution for those communities," he explained.
In this regard, councilor Miguel Ángel Jimenez, gave El Golfo as an example, where "we have increased the service again, even doubling its provision, due to existing demand." "This measure is part of the Cabildo's roadmap for sustainable and inclusive mobility. We are working to ensure that no resident of Lanzarote is left without transport alternatives, regardless of where they live. The Taxi-Guagua allows us to cover those areas where the conventional bus cannot operate regularly," he stressed.
Taxi-Bus Service Schedules in El Golfo
The service will have four daily round trips. From the stop located at the Yaiza Supermarket, heading towards El Golfo, departures will be at 07:45, 13:35, 15:45, and 19:45. In the opposite direction, from the El Golfo stop towards the Yaiza Supermarket, the times will be 08:00, 13:50, 16:00, and 20:00, allowing users to connect with the different island transport lines operating from Yaiza.
Jiménez also reported that the Cabildo continues to work to extend this service to other towns in the south of the island. "We know there is demand in areas like Las Breñas. There was a pause due to the circumstances of the island's transport system, but we have already resumed work to be able to offer the same service there that we are currently providing in El Golfo," he stated, indicating that this demand will soon be met.
