The PSOE of Lanzarote has announced an "offensive" in all institutions to defend the permanence of the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote in its current location.

The island secretary of the PSOE and member of Congress, María Dolores Corujo, has denounced that "there is currently no project, no timeline, nor any economic backing that guarantees the future of the Insular Hospital," a situation that, in her opinion, "opens the door to a progressive dismantling of an essential service for Lanzarote."

Corujo recalled that the Insular Hospital is part of the island's health and social history and that today it continues to play a key role within the socio-health system. "We are not talking about just any building. We are talking about a center with a history, with a location, and with staff who have sustained this service for decades," she pointed out

Faced with this scenario, the PSOE of Lanzarote will promote motions in all institutions, the Cabildo, town councils, and the Parliament of the Canary Islands, demanding the permanence of the Insular Hospital and calling for, given the lack of a project and budget, the urgent inclusion of a specific budgetary allocation for the rehabilitation of the current building.

"Talking about changes without a plan and without funding is irresponsible. If what they intend is to let the Insular Hospital die due to lack of investment, they will find us standing in their way. We will not allow it," Corujo warned.Corujo has underlined that this defense is not just a political position, but a demand that connects with the citizenry. "The Insular Hospital is not to be touched. The PSOE will not allow it, and the island society will prevent it," she concluded
