Lanzarote now has its first Island Census of Sports Facilities

The document includes 448 facilities and 1,403 sports spaces distributed in the seven municipalities of the island

The Island Sports Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has presented the first Island Census of Sports Facilities, an exhaustive document prepared by the company Wayedra that collects, for the first time in a joint manner, all the sports infrastructures of the seven municipalities of the island.

The census details the existence of 448 sports facilities and 1,403 sports spaces in Lanzarote, in addition to 803 complementary spaces and 65 sports modalities; offering a precise radiography of the state and distribution of resources destined to physical and sports practice in the territory. Among the municipalities, Teguise stands out with 113 facilities and 382 free spaces; Yaiza has 100 sports facilities and 293 spaces; and Arrecife with 98 facilities and 293 spaces. They are followed by Tías with 64 facilities and 184 spaces, San Bartolomé with 31 facilities and 93 spaces, Tinajo with 23 facilities and 105 spaces and, finally, Haría, with 19 facilities and 53 sports spaces.

The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón, highlighted the relevance of this document: "Having this census is a step forward in the strategic planning of sports in Lanzarote. It offers us a real vision of our infrastructures and will help us to better coordinate actions, optimize resources and respond to the needs of both clubs and citizens in general."

In addition, Monzón stressed that this work "reflects the Cabildo's commitment to transparency and continuous improvement." "We want this census to be a living tool, which allows us to continue evaluating and updating our facilities with the aim of guaranteeing quality spaces for sports practice throughout the island."
