Lanzarote now has "a new vessel" that is carrying out surveillance and inspection work in the Chinijo Archipelago. The Cabildo of Lanzarote has invested "290,000 euros" in the acquisition of the new surveillance boat with which the environmental agents are "carrying out inspection work in the waters" of the protected natural areas of La Graciosa, the islets of Alegranza and Montaña Clara and the Roques del Este and del Oeste.
Oswaldo Betancort highlighted "the importance of this new service", framed in a project that represents a "clear and determined commitment to innovation and the development of policies" around the "fight against climate change" and the "conservation of the environment". "The Chinijo Archipelago is a place of enormous environmental wealth that we must all take care of and allocate the necessary investment."

For his part, the Minister of the Environment, Samuel Martín, explained that for the surveillance of the spaces that make up the Natura 2000 Network, there are "two vessels that are obsolete", and it is necessary to carry out "complicated repairs" every year that keep the vessels inoperative for a while, and therefore it was "urgent to acquire a new, modern, fast vessel that allows us to develop functions and tasks optimally", the Minister asserted.
