The Cabildo of Lanzarote has opened the application period for aid aimed at the fishing sector of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, for a total amount of 480,000 euros, following its publication this Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
The President of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasized that this call for applications "gives continuity to the Government group's commitment to the modernization and strengthening of the fishing sector. This aid is a recognition of the daily effort of those who live from the sea and an opportunity to promote its sustainability, competitiveness and innovation," he stressed.
For his part, the Minister of Fisheries, Samuel Martín, explained that the subsidies “allow covering expenses from operating costs to investments in equipment, machinery or improvement of the first sale facilities. In addition, they incorporate assessment criteria that reward real activity, the incorporation of young people and the presence of women, moving towards a more inclusive and sustainable sector.”
The total amount of this subsidy is 480,000 euros, which is distributed in two main lines: an item of 130,000 euros to cover the operating and maintenance expenses of fishing entities, and another of 350,000 euros aimed at promoting new investments that contribute to the improvement and modernization of the fishing industry in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, guaranteeing its proper functioning and long-term sustainability.
The call for grants is competitive, and those who can benefit from these grants must have their own legal personality and be aware of their tax and social security obligations.
Those interested in submitting their applications have a maximum period of 15 business days from this Wednesday, October 22, as published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas (BOP). In addition, the procedure will be carried out through the Electronic Headquarters of the Cabildo.
