The Lanzarote en Pie group in the Arrecife City Council has asked the mayor to carry out a "massive screening" of all the personnel of the capital's consistory "to guarantee the safety of the residents who need to access the municipal facilities, as well as that of the workers".

The group has made this request after several City Council workers have tested positive for Covid. In this regard, Lanzarote en Pie states that there are already 10 employees of the institution infected, including a politician, who would be the CC councilor Jacobo Lemes.

As for the rest of the positives, Lanzarote en Pie details that two are Treasury workers, one from Human Resources, one from IT, one from Mobility, one from Archives, one from Maintenance, and two from the Works and Services department.

Also asks that the cessation of face-to-face care be considered

Lanzarote En Pie believes that "the appropriate conditions are not being met to guarantee a safe working environment, nor peace of mind for users and that, until the necessary measures are taken, the cessation of face-to-face care should be considered."

From the group they maintain that, "given the situation that has been unfolding in recent days with the increase in positives and confined personnel, teleworking - proposed as a preventive measure by the mayor - is insufficient to guarantee the safety and tranquility of people who need to access the City Council". As an example, they highlight that "the City Council lacks a homogeneous protocol for controlling entry to municipal facilities, with different situations occurring in each one".

Lanzarote En Pie maintains that "the Health and Safety Committee should have been urgently convened, in view of the warnings that the unions had been making about the need to carry out an assessment of the occupational risks of the jobs". Likewise, it recalls that the Law on Prevention of Occupational Risks establishes that the safety and health of workers must be guaranteed. In this context, it considers that "it is also the duty of the mayor to provide peace of mind to the residents of the municipality who need to go to the town hall to carry out their procedures".
