The spokesperson for Lanzarote En Pie (LEP), Leticia Padilla, has reported that this Thursday, April 21, she filed a complaint at the Arrecife Local Police station for the partial demolition of a house located in the Charco de San Ginés, "without the necessary documentation to carry it out."
Specifically, the reported events took place on April 19 when the partial demolition of a building located on Jacinto Borges Díaz Street, whose facade faces the bank of the Charco de San Ginés, took place.
Padilla stated that before formalizing the complaint, she went to the Department of Urban Planning to confirm if said work had a municipal license, a fact that was denied by the councilor of the aforementioned area, who explained that the only request made by the representatives of the work was for a tray to throw debris, so the LEP spokesperson proceeded to file the corresponding complaint.
Leticia Padilla recalled that "this area of the Charco de San Ginés is protected by the Catalog of Protection of Architectural and Monumental Heritage of the PIOT of the Cabildo of Lanzarote."
It so happens that the LEP councilor had already denounced the demolition of two other houses in Arrecife the day before, through her social networks, highlighting in her message that “This is how the heritage of Arrecife is destroyed. Two houses with history and values have been torn down this month and a third is about to be destroyed. They are quickly destroying the history of this city.”
