Lanzarote En Pie presents the electoral lists for the elections of May 28

Lanzarote En Pie (LEP) presented its electoral lists for the elections on May 28. Last Thursday, Leticia Padilla registered the municipal candidacies before the Arrecife Electoral Board, while the candidacy for the Cabildo de Lanzarote was presented to the Provincial Electoral Board in Las Palmas.

In this way, Lanzarote En Pie "is officially established as an electoral option for the May elections." Thus, Ruimán Duarte will be the candidate for the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Leticia Padilla for the Arrecife City Council, Jorge Díaz for the San Bartolomé City Council, Chona Brito for the Teguise City Council and Ramiro Muñoz for the Yaiza City Council.

Padilla stated that “these lists represent the municipal spirit of the project and its insular character, and are made up of people who live the day-to-day life of their neighborhoods or towns.” She added that “the candidacy for the Cabildo was conceived with the idea of creating an island work team well connected with the municipalities, which is why each municipal candidacy has representation in it.”

In the same vein, she referred to the Arrecife list that she heads as a candidate for the city's Mayor. “We have sought to build a decisive work team, with people who live in the neighborhoods and who are affected by the same problems as the rest. It is a list of prepared people, with experience and aware of the reality of the municipality,” she said.

"Betting on an accessible, close, transparent and decisive administration"

On the other hand, the candidate for Mayor of Teguise, Chona Brito, has announced that her candidacy "is made up of neighbors, who as such represent a very diverse professional profile." She will bet on "an accessible, close, transparent and decisive administration from which participatory processes are promoted to design the future of the municipality.” In addition, she explained that “we will work to “promote local agriculture, care for heritage and promote cultural and sports tourism, which is friendly to the environment.”

For his part, the candidate for Mayor of San Bartolomé, Jorge Díaz, highlighted that, “we have a multidisciplinary team made up of neighbors with professional profiles directly related to the main measures of the program.” Thus, “people involved with the defense of the environment and marine research, island references in the field of animal welfare, people from the world of culture, theater, music, the social field, freelancers,” he highlighted.

Ramiro Muñoz, candidate for Mayor of Yaiza, wanted to emphasize the “hardworking” nature of his list, “made up of neighbors who carry out their work activity in the municipality and know firsthand the needs they have to go through to find housing, to be able to fill the shopping basket or to access public services that allow them to reconcile work and family,” he emphasizes.

On the other hand, Ruimán Duarte highlighted that “I am proud to have on my list people focused on the island reality and sensitive to the needs of the people.” Furthermore, “we are a team with experience in various sectors: freelancers, employees in the tourism sector, public workers, people active in the defense of social rights, animal rights and environmental protection, etc.” “Our profile is that of common people aware of the real needs,” he acknowledges.

Finally, the party has revealed that the slogan they will use in this electoral campaign will be “People like you”, because, as they explain, “the candidacies reflect the real composition of Lanzarote society.”
