The Lanzarote delegation closes its participation in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2017 with a positive balance, in its opinion, having held almost 40 meetings during three days of work with the main national and international tour operators. In this edition, the representatives of Lanzarote, headed by the Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo, Echedey Eugenio, have directed their efforts to intensify the promotion strategies aimed at attracting a tourist with greater purchasing power and "demanding experience in the destination".

Other axes in which they have focused their participation, according to what they have stated, involve "strengthening the Spanish market, the recovery of Nordic and German tourism as well as boosting online marketing".

And among the agreements reached in Fitur, from the Cabildo they have pointed out that the British tourist group Jet2.com has announced the opening for next summer of the eighth and ninth routes that will link Lanzarote with Birmingham and London Standed. It also has a tool called 'Which' that provides information on the consumption patterns of its passengers.

Online checking service in hotels

Thus, according to what they have indicated, "the collaboration with Turismo Lanzarote will focus on finding out the characteristics and tastes of the type of client who travels to the island, in the search to offer a more adapted and better service in the destination".  They will also offer their clients the online checking service in the island's hotels next summer.

For its part, according to what the Cabildo has pointed out after the meetings held in Fitur, the Polish tour operator Itaka plans to increase from 15,000 places to approximately 17,000 for the next summer season, "which will mean a reinforcement of the presence of tourism from Poland and Eastern European countries, also within the market diversification strategy undertaken by Turismo Lanzarote".

Likewise, the Lanzarote delegation held a meeting with TUI Germany. The objective is to "give strength to the other economic lung of Europe and encourage the recovery of German tourism". Thus, it has incorporated new products into its catalog to stay in Lanzarote and it was agreed to plan work trips with its travel agents so that they can get to know the destination in situ this year.

Other actions

They are also committed to the sports product in the Lanzarote tourist offer, according to what they have indicated. In this sense, the island will once again host the Gambito Golf tournament.

On the other hand, Ryanair conveyed to them its intention to shortly label one of its aircraft with the name of Lanzarote and Vueling will reinforce some routes between the island such as those of Rome and Zürich.

In collaboration with Halcón Viajes, Turismo Lanzarote will participate, according to what the Cabildo has advanced, in the Madrid Travel Fair on May 6 and 7 at the Palacio de los Deportes. In that forum, the acquisition of tickets and vacation packages in advance will be promoted, to travel to Lanzarote in May and June, before the summer peaks".
