The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, and the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Marcial Morales, met this weekend in Playa Blanca to liquidate the Ventiagua Public Limited Company, which was created between the Island Water Consortium of Lanzarote and the Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura in 1992 and has never been active.
According to the Lanzarote Cabildo, this company had a capital of 90,000 euros that will be divided between both entities. At the time, it was established for "the development of the integral water cycle, carrying out studies, works and projects, executing works and installations of hydraulic infrastructures and alternative energy generation systems, which are a consequence of water production or purification processes or facilitate or complement such processes".
However, the Island Corporation points out that "the reality is that each Consortium has carried out this type of work over the years, focusing them on their territorial reality and not between the two Islands." Therefore, it concludes that this company was not useful and explains that they have decided to eliminate it because it is "inoperative, in order to better manage resources".
