The Yaiza City Council informs the population that from Wednesday, August 12 to Friday, August 14, Avenida Papagayo will be closed to traffic, in the section between the Carmen church and its intersection with Maciot street (the street of the Lanzarote Princess hotel), due to asphalting and road marking painting work for this first phase of the comprehensive rehabilitation project of the artery, undertaken by the Administration investing 2.6 million euros of municipal resources.

This first intervention also enables 65 parallel parking spaces on the same Avenida Papagayo, which will become a one-way street, towards Las Coloradas, between the church and Maciot street. The parking lot behind the church, which will provide 35 more spaces for the tourist town, is yet to be completed, also included in this same project.

Yaiza requests that road users take this circumstance into account and, during the indicated period, use alternative routes and exercise extreme caution in the areas near the work. "We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation regarding any inconvenience these actions may cause," notes the Councilor for Public Works, Ángel Lago.

The Institution is simultaneously advancing the continuation of the commission by renovating sidewalks and carrying out accessibility works in the second phase of the project in the area adjacent to the Princesa Yaiza hotel, a section of the road that will also be asphalted. The total urban rehabilitation project will extend along the entire Avenida Papagayo to the Ciudad Jardín roundabout, near Las Coloradas.
