The PSOE of Lanzarote has begun to prepare for the May 2027 elections with the constitution of its campaign committee, which will be led by the Organization Secretary, José Juan Cruz, and which will coordinate the political and organizational work of the party in the coming months.
The decision was adopted during the meeting of the Insular Executive Commission, in which the socialists of Lanzarote addressed the planning of the next electoral cycle, the calendar of primaries for the election of candidates for the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the different town councils, as well as different proposals for resolutions that will become initiatives for their transfer to the institutions.
José Juan Cruz highlighted that the constitution of the campaign committee means "giving a new boost to a work that the PSOE has been developing since the beginning of the legislature".
“We arrive at this new stage with a lot of work done, with enthusiasm and with a prepared organization. From the first day of the legislature, we have carried out intense work, governing and managing in the municipalities where we have responsibilities and building, from listening and closeness, an alternative for Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Now it is time to redouble that effort and begin to prepare, together with all the groups, the path towards May 2027,” stated Cruz.
During the meeting, the Organization Secretary also reported on the calendar of primaries to determine the socialist candidacies for the Cabildo and the town councils. The presentation of candidacies will take place from October 23 to 26; the collection of endorsements will be carried out from October 28 to November 4, and the first voting day will be held on November 14.
Three proposals for resolutions that will be transferred to the institutions
The Insular Executive Commission also approved three proposals for resolutions that the PSOE of Lanzarote will transfer as initiatives to the different institutions, continuing the political work of the organization beyond the electoral preparation itself.
The Executive approved a proposal for a resolution in support and solidarity with Ceuta and another aimed at promoting adherence to the State Pact against the Climate Emergency in Spain.
Added to these is the proposal presented by Socialist Youth of Lanzarote, which proposes to promote the updating of the protocol of action in situations of school bullying in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
The PSOE of Lanzarote thus faces the coming months by combining political and institutional work with the preparation for the May 2027 elections, reinforcing coordination between the island organization and local groups and launching the process that will culminate in the election of its candidates.
