The Tinajo City Council has obtained a cumulative score of 3.21 points in transparency, forming the eight non-compliant corporations out of the eighty-eight that the Canary Islands has. After the criticisms from the PP of Tinajo, its mayor has explained the reasons why it has been suspended in a recent interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.

The main reason was the "loss of the secretary Don Luis, who died on July 15," Jesús Machín assured. After the sad death, "many things were left to send and tender," explains Machín. There was a "specific deadline" to send the documentation and "it was not possible due to his death," he adds.

In addition, he makes it clear that "we are surviving and doing things as they tell us" from the town hall and there is already "a person in charge of transparency." They continue to look for solutions and take measures to recover that transparency index, so "we have hired an intervention company and the secretary of the Cabildo advises me punctually," the mayor explained.

The inconvenience that arises is the following: "The Ministry does not have personnel trained in administration, they have not yet filled the vacant position", Machín argued. Another of the reasons that has motivated obtaining that low score. An issue for which the mayor proposes a solution: "The Government should provide young people and the unemployed for public official positions," he urged on the microphones of Radio Lanzarote.

"The Ministry does not have personnel trained in administration, they have not yet filled the vacant position"

A problem that the town hall hopes will have a solution soon. "Everything will be resolved and I am looking forward to a secretary-auditor coming", he added. In addition, the mayor proposes "separating the vice-secretariat from Intervention and Treasury" to be able to "comply with everything up to date", he points out.

In addition, the bad grade in transparency will not have major consequences. "It does not imply any sanction", only "withholding 2%", Machín wanted to clarify.

The increase in tourist tickets

The mayor of Tinajo considers that, after the announcement of the increase in tickets at the Tourist Centers of Lanzarote, "the percentage fee for tickets to the town halls should be increased", he stressed. Something that in the case of Tinajo "has not been done since 2002".

Something he fights for as mayor is "to fight for Tinajo to receive more money from higher institutions", he revealed. He acknowledges that of the "eight euros that I hear are going to be raised, the percentage should also be raised to the town hall", he explains.

In addition, he "hopes that the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote Oswaldo Betancort and the councilor and delegate of the Art Centers Ángel Vázquez, take Tinajo into account", he concludes.
