The Ciudadanos councilor in San Bartolomé, Javier Lemes, has presented his resignation and announced his “farewell to public life”. “In no case do the recent resignations or the party's decisions in the most immediate present have anything to do with me,” he clarified, disassociating his departure from other recent departures from the party.
The last one, known last Friday, was that of the island coordinator of Ciudadanos in Lanzarote and regional Secretary of Communication, David Rodríguez, who has left the formation “due to differences in criteria”. In the case of Lemes, he states that his resignation “has to do with purely work-related reasons”, due to the “inability and incompatibility” of continuing to maintain his job and the public position he held since the last elections.
“In June 2019 I was able to make one of my dreams come true, which is none other than being able to collaborate and contribute to decisions for and for the development of my municipality. Today, May 31, 2021, I put an end to this part of my life, which has made me grow as a person, and has made me more aware of the problems that surround our society,” he says in a farewell letter, in which he thanks “each and every one of the workers who are part of the City Council”, “the colleagues from other political parties in the opposition and the government group” and the media.
For its part, Ciudadanos has also sent a press release thanking Javier Lemes “for his work and dedication during this term” and highlighting “the great work carried out by Lemes in the local corporation, which has been characterized by good management and a great commitment to the residents of San Bartolomé”.
The orange formation highlights “his dedication and loyalty to the Ciudadanos project during all this time” and wishes him “the best of luck in all the projects he may start from now on”.
