The 11th Island Congress of the PSOE of Lanzarote, held on March 15 and 16, has once again consolidated the leadership of María Dolores Corujo, who has been re-elected as general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote with the support of the socialist membership. With a renewed and committed team, the PSOE of Lanzarote faces this new stage with the aim of restoring dignity and transparency to the island's management.
During her speech, Corujo highlighted the PSOE's commitment to face the island's challenges and restore confidence to the citizens: "I assume this new stage with more strength, desire, and enthusiasm than ever to restore dignity and transparency to public management in Lanzarote. We are going to continue working to ensure that this island advances with a sustainable model, with social justice, and without turning our backs on the real problems of the people," said the general secretary.
Likewise, she alluded to the great challenges facing the island, pointing out that the water crisis, the housing emergency, and the need to establish controlled tourism must be at the center of political action. Corujo insisted that efficient public management of water is essential, guaranteeing supply to the population and productive sectors; a fair housing policy, which stops speculation and guarantees access to decent housing for the people of Lanzarote; and a tourism model based on sustainability and limiting carrying capacity, to avoid the degradation of the territory and the loss of quality of life.
A strong PSOE with a clear alternative for Lanzarote
The closing ceremony included speeches by Ángel Víctor Torres, general secretary of the PSOE of the Canary Islands and Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, and Enma López, federal secretary of Economic Policy and Digital Transformation, who highlighted the strength of the PSOE in Lanzarote and the leadership of María Dolores Corujo.
"Loli Corujo is a safe bet: she increased votes to the Island Council and swept the General Elections leading the province. Great human team that accompanies her: the PSOE Lanzarote is very strong and is the alternative," said the general secretary of the socialists in the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres.
For her part, in her speech, Emma López pointed out that "The PSOE of Lanzarote demonstrates that politics committed to the people and responsible management are the way to go. María Dolores Corujo and her team represent a guarantee of serious work and progress for the island."
