Health will rent a private medical center to speed up waiting lists in Lanzarote

The Canary Islands Health Service, managed by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has approved this Monday to allocate the private medical center Clínica Jorgani located on Avenida Islas Canarias in Costa Teguise to speed up waiting lists in Lanzarote. This was announced by the Canary Islands Government itself in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

Specifically, the regional government has authorized the direct contracting of the rental of this property, which is located in the Calipso Center Shopping Center and has an area of 1,460 m².

As specified in the announcement, the objective of the lease of this private medical center is to implement a healthcare facility (Specialized Care Center) to function as a complementary outpatient clinic to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.

In this way, the Ministry of Health aims to "reinforce accessibility, increase resolution capacity, and improve the organizational efficiency of the island's healthcare system."

Currently, in Lanzarote, more than 4,700 patients are waiting for an appointment in some of the medical specialties at the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Lanzarote, the worst figure in a decade.

Thus, the most in-demand areas in Lanzarote are Gynecology (with 625 patients without an appointment), followed by General and Digestive Surgery (with 485 patients); Rehabilitation (with 455); and Dermatology (419).
