The Haría City Council has sent an official letter to the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, requesting an update to clarify doubts about the situation of the island's socio-health centers for the elderly, especially those in its municipality, after the latest complaints from the Socialist Party and Comisiones Obreras, published in the media.
The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, points out that the main objective of this action is to keep the population calm, especially the families of the elderly people in these centers. “The purpose is to know the assessment and follow-up that the island corporation makes on our residence,” he notes.
“The citizenry deserves all the information about the care that their relatives are receiving, since these residences require the maximum sensitivity and transparency on the part of all local administrations,” highlights the mayor.
Likewise, Alfredo Villalba reiterates the coordination and collaboration of both institutions to resolve and evolve in matters related to the social welfare and security of the residents of Haría.
With this action, the City Council "reiterates its commitment to the care and protection of elderly people and will remain in contact with the primary island Institution to know the status of the request's evolution".
