The Haría City Council, through the Department of Social Welfare, is launching a new physical activity project for the elderly with the aim of promoting active and healthy aging, bringing sports practices closer to residents without the need for long journeys.
Starting in February, Haría will offer aquatic exercise classes at the Finca La Crucita indoor pool, an activity designed to facilitate movement in the water, known for its health benefits, such as improved circulation, flexibility and muscle toning, without impact on the joints.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, emphasizes that this initiative seeks to promote active aging, promoting sports practice adapted to the needs of the group. "With these activities, we give our elders the opportunity to enjoy physical activity in a safe and beneficial way for their well-being, without the need for long journeys," Villalba commented.
For her part, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Evelia García, states that "initiatives like these are essential to improve the quality of life of the elderly, promoting their physical, mental and social well-being."
Likewise, the councilor expresses her gratitude to Finca La Crucita for its selfless collaboration, by offering its facilities so that the people who participate can carry out the activity without having to travel outside the municipality.
The sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in two time slots, from 10:00 to 11:00 hours and from 11:00 to 12:00 hours, and will be aimed at the elderly population with exercises specially designed for this group.
In addition, the adapted gymnastics classes, included in the program 'Giving Life to the Years', will resume on February 3 with sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays in the town of Arrieta from 8:30 to 9:30 hours; in Punta Mujeres from 10:00 to 11:00 hours and in Haría from 11:30 to 12:30 hours.
Those interested in participating in any of these activities can register in person at the Haría Town Hall entrance registry or through the electronic headquarters. For more information, you can contact the City Council by calling 637 893 074 or 928 836 018, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
