The Haría City Council, through the Environment Area, has announced that it is developing the agrological and environmental recovery project of the Los Lajares farm. According to the City Council, the purpose of this action is to "create a small oasis of palm trees and dragon trees that facilitate suitable habitats for the recovery of native birds."
The City Council, within this action, has recently planted several specimens of palm trees of different sizes in the plot corresponding to the volcanic lava flow area, which was deeply deteriorated by the extraction of rocks and movement of land.
This action is complemented by the collaboration agreement signed by the City Council with the non-profit social insertion company Grevislan, which is favoring the planting of traditional fruit trees.
"This farm will be a point of enormous environmental, geological, ethnographic and botanical interest for the island as a whole, which will serve both for experimentation and agricultural support and for the study and dissemination of all heritage values, from the scientific and educational point of view," said the councilor responsible for the area, José Pérez Dorta.
