After convening the pact monitoring committee at Teguise Town Hall and holding various meetings, Ginés González, Councillor for Animal Welfare and Local Police, has made a positive assessment of the pact committee. As he explains, "my objective in requesting this meeting was always to improve as a Governing Group and to give a necessary boost to certain areas that, although not directly dependent on my competence, I consider vital for the municipality."
In this dialogue process, González has thanked "the great work" of Astrid Pérez, insular president of the Popular Party, who assures that "she has shown a special sensitivity towards the demands I have conveyed to her; she has perfectly understood what I requested for Teguise and she has managed to provide a solution to the main issues I raised in the call". For the rest of the matters, "we have already established a follow-up protocol that guarantees they will not be left in a drawer. Her role has been key to unblocking situations that required an important decision from the Popular Party, and I am surprised in the best possible way by the forcefulness with which she has provided a solution to the most important matters affecting the Teguise City Council, without looking at political acronyms".
In addition, he has also thanked Pedro San Ginés, island president of Coalición Canaria, "for his willingness and for promptly attending to my requests". Together with mayor Olivia Duque, he points out that "we have been able to verify that everything that was requested is already being worked on so that solutions arrive as soon as possible". "I greatly value the great progress we have achieved in such a short time under the mayor's leadership. I must publicly acknowledge that with Olivia Duque there has always been good communication, and I believe that all this has served to further strengthen joint work and, to a certain extent, give greater support to the mayor so that she can make the important decisions she must make for the municipality, without having to worry about other matters," he continues.
"I am aware that many people wondered at the time why I requested the pact monitoring table. The answer is simple: from the very first minute I was clear that there were issues that needed a greater push. Although they are not part of my assigned areas, I feel like a decisive part of this government group and I understand the Teguise City Council as a whole, as a unit, he points out. “It is a mistake to divide municipal management into areas as if they were different sports courts. Here we don't play different games; we are responsible for municipal management and we cannot pass the buck. We all wear the same jersey, which is that of the residents of Teguise,” he continues.
"My intention is none other than to ensure that the municipal machinery works in the best possible way. Here it is not about distinguishing between officials or politicians, it is about giving our best to the citizens. I am convinced that working as a team is how the great results that Teguise deserves are achieved. Today, after these meetings, the pact emerges strengthened, with a clear roadmap and, above all, with the certainty that the well-being of the resident is above any acronym or department," he concludes.
