The Cabildo of Lanzarote has authorized a special reinforcement of the public transport service between towns for travelers on the occasion of the patron saint celebrations of the Virgen de Los Dolores, in Mancha Blanca (Tinajo). The measure responds to the mandatory request of the Tinajo City Council, being included in a resolution signed on Monday, September 8. The measure manages to guarantee the safety, comfort and accessibility of citizens and visitors during the main events of the festivities.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has stated that the priority is "that the most important festivals on the island are enjoyed with the greatest safety and accessibility. With what this reinforcement of public transport not only facilitates mobility, but also contributes to reducing the use of private vehicles, with the consequent benefit in terms of sustainability and road safety."
The interurban transport concessionaire, Arrecife Bus S.L., will have high-capacity vehicles to attend to the expected large influx, especially during the festival on Friday the 12th, the Pilgrimage on Saturday the 13th, the concert and festival on Sunday the 14th, and the Mass and concerts on Monday the 15th of September. If necessary, the planned routes will be reinforced with additional trips.
Regarding the Cabildo's initiative, the Councilor for Transportation and Mobility, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, has stressed that "the special device responds to the need for everyone to have guaranteed an efficient, comfortable and safe public transportation service during these important days."
Special schedules and services
- Festival (Friday, September 12, early morning of Saturday, September 13): special return service at 02:00 hours from Mancha Blanca to Arrecife.
- Pilgrimage (Saturday, September 13): special outbound services from 12:00 to 01:00 hours and return services from 12:30 to 05:00 hours.
- Concert and festival (Sunday, September 14): outbound services at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00 hours, and return services at 23:30, 24:00, 03:30 and 04:00 hours.
- Mass and concerts (Monday, September 15): outbound service at 10:00 hours and returns at 14:00 and 23:45 hours.
The applicable rate will be the ordinary rate in force for the corresponding line.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote reminds that the City Council of Tinajo and the Local Police will collaborate in the regulation and control of the service to ensure its correct development and attend to any incident.
