The Centro Atlántico of Puerto del Carmen, located between Nicaragua, César Manrique and Avenida de Las Playas streets, was a benchmark for daytime and nighttime leisure, but according to Coalición Canaria in the Tías City Council, in the last "two years" it has become "a negative benchmark", suffering a "considerable deterioration", without the Consistory providing "remedy". More than a deterioration of the facilities, CC refers to a deterioration of the image due to the activities that take place in this area, such as "the beginning of prostitution and the alleged exchange or trafficking of drugs in the vicinity" of the center.

The CC spokesperson, Mame Fernández, brought this matter to the plenary session on September 18, echoing the "more than 100 complaints and reports" from residents and businessmen in the area. To these complaints, we must add "the daily reports and complaints from the Local Police" for all the "irregularities" that are carried out in this center, according to CC.

Among them, Mame Fernández assures that closing times are not met, there is no soundproofing and the premises skip the noise regulations. Also, the advertising ordinance of the so-called "ticket sellers" is not complied with. Faced with this situation, Fernández asked a series of questions about this matter to the municipal government group.

The government group replied that it was carrying out the procedures for possible infractions and sanctions to the premises and irregular activities around the Atlántico center that do not comply with the regulations and ordinances and assured that it was urging compliance with the closing times of the nightclubs.

File of 15,001 euros to a sexual activity venue

However, when asked if all the premises in the Centro Atlántico comply with current regulations, the government group limited itself to answering that "most", suggesting that there are businesses that do not meet all the requirements or do not have all the permits. Therefore, Mame Fernández does not understand why no action has yet been taken against the premises that violate the regulations, while other businesses in Puerto del Carmen are being prosecuted precisely for this.

As an example, he cites the case of a sexual activity venue, located in the Centro Olivin, in Puerto del Carmen. The plenary approved to fine this venue with 15,001 euros for not being adapted to the regulations. The opposition, according to CC, decided to abstain, understanding that businesses and businesses should be given time to adapt to these new regulations.
