The Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved and activated the payment of tickets for regular intercity public transport for travelers on the island by bank card, which can be used from April 1. Oswaldo Betancort has stated that "the cost of this investment amounts to 281,669 euros in order to carry out the installation of the necessary devices in 62 vehicles of the intercity bus transport fleet on the island."
For his part, the Minister of Transport and Mobility, Domingo Cejas, has declared that "this action addresses a necessary demand for both residents and tourists." "As the payment of tickets with bank cards increases, as does the use of vouchers, the times and commercial speed of the transport service will also improve," he concluded.
During the past month of February, tests were carried out on some bus lines: the 16, which connects La Santa with Los Valles; the 30, which moves within Playa Blanca; and the two airport lines, the 22 and 161 (Arrecife-Airport, Playa Blanca-Airport).
