"The agreement sealed a month ago between the Renovating Movement of Tinajo and Nueva Canarias has already borne its first fruits, with the inclusion of two important projects for the municipality in the Canary Islands budgets for 2023, which will mean an investment of 800,000 euros." This was announced by the president of the MRT, Antonio Morales, who thanked NC leader Román Rodríguez for his response to his requests, as Minister of Finance, Budgets and European Affairs of the Government of the Canary Islands, and also the intervention of the Canarian deputy Luis Campos.

“We were always clear that reaching a political agreement was for the interest of the people of Tinajo and for the people who live in the municipality and we are demonstrating that agreements can be reached by building bridges and dialoguing with other forces,” Morales stressed.

One of the two projects that have been included and that the party considered "key" is the purchase of the plot located behind the Town Hall, known as the Beltrán Tejera estate and house. For this acquisition, the budgets that have already been approved by the Canary Islands Government Council include an item of 600,000 euros.

The other, also marked as "priority" by the MRT, is destined to the improvement and enhancement of La Isleta and La Ría de La Santa, for which they have managed to allocate 200,000 euros. “La Santa has tremendous potential, but it is very degraded. That is why we have to do a project and then start executing and improving that area,” Morales stresses, who believes that this will also contribute to improving the economy of the town and the attractions of the municipality.

Participatory process to define the use

Regarding the acquisition of the land, the president of the MRT specifies that "an estimated item has been included", waiting to make an appraisal now. “Perhaps it will be necessary to increase that amount, but the item is already open,” he celebrated.

“What we intend is that the land can be used mainly for parking and leisure area”, explains Antonio Morales, who recalls that currently this is one of the shortcomings in the vicinity of Plaza de San Roque.

“We are clear that the town of Tinajo must be an area that generates economy and employment, with premises, with businesses... And among other things, for that to happen there must be parking areas”, he adds, defending that the center of the town has to become “a friendly area, where people can walk, with pedestrian areas and shaded areas”.

His proposal is to allocate part of the land to be acquired to parking and the rest to other uses, giving participation to the residents to decide their future. Regarding the house, he explains that "the first thing will be to restore it, for the value and history that this property contains". Afterwards, he proposes "also giving participation to the citizens, so that they contribute their ideas on what it should be used for".

“When we closed the agreement with Nueva Canarias we not only thought about the organic issue, but above all that it had to be for the benefit of the people of Tinajo, transferring what our idea of the municipality is, which is none other than that Tinajo prospers, thinking about generating economy and employment", defends Antonio Morales, who trusts that "the budgets will now overcome the parliamentary process and that the Lanzarote deputies will support these investments for the island".
