The national secretary of the Canarian Coalition (CC) and president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, asked this Wednesday in Arrecife that the Canary Islands vote next Sunday, June 9, for the CC candidate in the European elections, Carlos Alonso, "to respond to the problems of the Islands" and so that in the European Parliament they feel "the power of our accent."

Fernando Clavijo advocated that "the Canary Islands not remain outside of European politics" and assured that "next Sunday the Canarians only have two options: vote for the noise or for this land, to guarantee and advance in the status of the islands as an ultra-peripheral region, to advance in a framework that protects and reinforces our singularities, and to respond to the migratory crisis and population growth."

In this sense, the highest national leader of CC and president of the Canarian autonomous government stressed, in the act of support for the candidacy of the nationalist Carlos Alonso held in the Municipal Archive of Arrecife, that "it depends on us that from June 9 the next European Commission looks at the Canary Islands and addresses the problems of its Southern Border."

For his part, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Oswaldo Betancort, expressed that "faced with the inaction of some parties that repeat candidacies to talk about the same problems that we have been suffering in the Canary Islands for years, without doing absolutely anything, the Canarian Coalition is the only formation with a candidate like Carlos Alonso capable of demanding differentiated policies aimed at applying in a peculiar Archipelago such as the Canary Islands."

"As the Southern Border of Europe that we are, it is essential to make the citizens aware that the voice of the Canary Islands must be heard loud and clear in Brussels, to achieve a migration policy that orders the migratory phenomenon that causes so much drama at a European level, that cares about the needs of our primary sector and that explores as many alternatives as necessary to regulate the housing problem in the Islands, since our Archipelago is a limited territory," added Oswaldo Betancort, who accompanies Carlos Alonso on the electoral list to the European Parliament.

The general secretary of CC in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the autonomous government, Migdalia Machín, also spoke, who considered it "essential" that the European Parliament has "in the face of empty speeches someone who carries the Canary Islands in their heart as Carlos Alonso, because there is no other party that loves and feels this land like the Canarian Coalition."

The event also included the participation of the national secretary of Organization of CC and president of the Canarian Nationalist Group in the autonomous Parliament, David Toledo, who stressed that "faced with the snub of the state parties," the Canarian Coalition from its origins "has been achieving advances that have led to us living in a better land today and hence the importance of the Canary Islands having a MEP again who claims before Europe as Carlos Alonso will what it means to be a nationalist and to be Canarian."

For his part, the organization secretary of CC in Lanzarote and La Graciosa and first deputy mayor of the Arrecife City Council, Echedey Eugenio, stressed that "the Canary Islands are at stake this Sunday in the elections because issues of utmost importance for our Archipelago such as housing and immigration are decided in Europe, and the best way for the trade winds to blow in favor of our Archipelago from the European Parliament is to have a nationalist representative like Carlos Alonso, who will defend the needs of this land like no other."

Finally, the general secretary of the Nationalist Youth of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and councilor of the Arrecife City Council, Maciot Cabrera, pointed out that the elections this Sunday to the European Parliament represent "a crucial moment for the Canary Islands and especially for the youth of the Archipelago, who face specific challenges on a daily basis such as the search for decent employment, access to housing and new technologies, which only a nationalist like Carlos Alonso can demand with a purely Canarian voice that is heard loud and clear in Europe."
