The municipality of Yaiza is moving forward with its plan to renovate and implement children's play areas, delivering three new inclusive parks for public use. Two of them in the town of Uga, one located in the town's picnic area, and another next to the Infant and Primary school. The third is opening in Femés, which is also opening an inclusive park in the Femés Atrás area, next to the multi-sports court under construction, thus creating a large area dedicated to leisure and recreation at the service of the population.

The total investment of these three municipal projects reaches 870,000 euros, an execution that the Institution presided over by Óscar Noda has co-financed with funds from the Municipal Cooperation Plan of the Cabildo de Lanzarote of the last two years. "In the park next to the CEIP Uga the investment was 298,000 euros, plus 179,000 in the picnic area park and 393,000 euros in the Femés Atrás park," details the mayor who was this Thursday in Femés with the Councilor for Parks, Rubén Arca and the Councilor for Works, Ángel Lago.

"We are a model municipality in the implementation of inclusive and accessible playgrounds and our technical experience has been transferred to other municipalities in Lanzarote that are also undertaking initiatives aimed at ensuring that all boys and girls have the possibility of playing under equal conditions," notes Rubén Arca.

The park located next to the Uga school has an area of 490 square meters and is equipped with a zip line, shade areas, interactive games and other attractive recreational elements designed for the little ones, as does the Uga picnic area, which also has LED-type solar streetlights and provides a charging point for mobile phones and other portable devices powered by a sustainable photovoltaic installation. The Femés park also has bio-healthy machines and a calisthenics area.

Call for care

Before the opening of the playground located next to the Uga school, the city council detected breakages and other damages caused by unscrupulous people "who in no case represent the whole of our population, so we make not only a call to take care of the recreational facilities and street furniture, but also to report in case of detecting those responsible for the damage," adds Rubén Arca.
