The Tías City Council held the swearing-in ceremony this Monday morning for eight new local police officers as probationary civil servants, "who will undoubtedly contribute to improving the quality of life and well-being of those of us who live in the municipality," stated the mayor, José Juan Cruz Saavedra.
José Juan Cruz, who presided over the ceremony alongside the deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the head of the Tías Local Police, Antonio Jesús Rodríguez, congratulated the eight officers who have passed the competitive examination on behalf of the council and encouraged them to “maintain a close relationship and always be at the service of the citizens”.
The new police officers will receive training from the Directorate General of Studies, Training, and Research in Public Security of the Government of the Canary Islands and will complete 1,200 hours of practical training at the Tías Local Police Headquarters
As will be recalled, the Tías City Council unanimously approved delegating to the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (Directorate General of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands) the exercise of its competence in the selection processes for Local Police personnel.
These eight positions were included in the public employment offer for the years 2023 and 2024. Currently, there are six more Local Police positions for the Tías City Council corresponding to the 2025 public employment offer announced by the Directorate General of Studies, Training, and Research in Public Security of the Government of the Canary Islands.
