The Cabildo of Lanzarote informs of the opening of the application periods for the artisan card corresponding to the year 2026, aimed at professionals in the artisan sector of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The calls, approved by Resolution No. 2026-0103 of the Department of Crafts, will take place during the months of March and September, with the aim of continuing to promote the professionalization, visibility, and protection of the sector.
Just as the announcement published this Friday, February 13, in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas states, the deadline for submitting applications will remain open from March 1 to 31 and from September 1 to 30, 2026.
The president of the Institution, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted the importance of this official accreditation as institutional support for those who keep the island's traditions alive. “The artisan card is a key tool to protect and promote a sector that is an essential part of our cultural identity. Behind each artisan piece there is knowledge, history, and a way of understanding Lanzarote that we must preserve and project towards the future,” Betancort has stated.
For their part, the Minister of the Craftsmanship Area, Aroa Revelo, has encouraged interested individuals to participate in these calls. “We hold two annual calls, in March and September, to facilitate that professionals in the sector can obtain the craftsmanship card. This accreditation not only officially recognizes their work, but also allows them to access fairs, public aid, specialized training, and new promotion opportunities,” Revelo explained.
Currently, around 400 male and female artisans already have the official card in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, a figure that reflects the growing interest in regularizing and strengthening artisanal activity as part of the island's cultural and economic fabric.
How to submit the application
Interested persons must submit an application addressed to the Cabildo de Lanzarote, accompanied by the required documentation, which includes the technical sheet of the artisanal specialty, graphic material of the works carried out, and other specific requirements depending on the trade.
