The Teguise City Council, through the Department of Elderly Affairs, "reinforces its commitment to the well-being and active participation of the municipality's elderly," organizing a five-day cultural trip through the province of León, in which elderly people from all parts of the municipality participated.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that "initiatives like this reflect the municipal government's commitment to offering opportunities that favor the physical, social, and cultural well-being of our senior citizens. From the City Council, we continue to program new activities and trips through the Senior Citizen Area and the Imserso programs, guaranteeing that more and more people from all the town's localities can enjoy these spaces for coexistence and learning."
For her part, the Councillor for the Elderly Area, Nereyda González, accompanied the 50 participants throughout the trip and pointed out that "these activities are essential to promote the integration and participation of our elderly, while strengthening ties between neighbors throughout the municipality and offering them enriching cultural experiences and moments of shared leisure."
During the outing, the elderly toured the main cultural and natural enclaves of the province, including the city of León and its historical complex, Riaño and the Leonese fjords, Astorga and its emblematic spaces, as well as Val de San Lorenzo, the cradle of textiles and wool. This experience allowed participants to enjoy the historical, heritage and artisanal wealth of the region, promoting cultural education.
With this action, the Teguise City Council "reaffirms its policy of promoting the active participation of senior citizens, consolidating its commitment to municipal management that is close, inclusive, and aimed at improving the quality of life for the entire senior population of the municipality."
