Ciudadanos urged the Teguise City Council and the Coastal Demarcation this Wednesday to "signal and mark Las Cucharas Beach", to guarantee "the safety of both bathers and those who practice water sports in the area".
In this regard, the local group Cs Teguise recalled that "two months ago the marine current dragged the marking that separated the entrance and exit channel for boats and windsurfers on the aforementioned beach", and "since then nothing has been done to replace it".
"The absence of this marking has meant that the area limited for the practice of water sports has been lost", which has caused that currently "bathers are mixed with those who practice windsurfing, surfing or any other discipline", which "poses a risk to bathers", said the coordinator of the local group, Antonio Becerra.
Therefore, and because "it is the responsibility of the local institution to ensure safety", Ciudadanos has demanded that the City Council urge Costas "to replace the marking of Las Cucharas Beach as soon as possible, also taking into account that we are in the middle of Holy Week", to avoid that "some accident has to be regretted".
