Ciudadanos (Cs) has denounced this Tuesday "the lack of maintenance and the poor condition of the palm trees of Costa Teguise". "This is a recurring problem that highlights the neglect of the municipal government with the gardens and green areas of Teguise," says the coordinator of Cs in the municipality, Raquel Hernández.
Hernández says that "the palm trees of Costa Teguise are so neglected that they already pose a real danger when driving and traveling on certain roads", especially on the main street of the town. In this line, he points out that "the palm trees lack pruning", so "the branches go into the road, hindering the vision of drivers".
"According to the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort, Costa Teguise is the urban center that grows the most in the Canary Islands, and, nevertheless, it is in a total state of abandonment, despite being the town that enters the most of the entire municipality," says the coordinator of Cs.

Hernández asks the mayor if "the employment plans that he has announced with great fanfare do not contemplate the improvement of the garden areas of the main road of Costa Teguise". In this sense, he declares that "the City Council has a budget for parties that, unfortunately, are not going to be held", so he believes that "a part could be invested in employment to improve the green areas".
For all these reasons, Ciudadanos asks the municipal government to "launch a plan for the improvement and maintenance of the palm trees and the rest of the green areas of Costa Teguise, in order to improve the image of the town and guarantee the safety of drivers and pedestrians".
