Ciudadanos has asked this Monday the Island Council of Lanzarote to "take into account all the claims of the sports world on the island", and to "clarify once and for all if there can be an audience in the stands of the different competitions".
In this regard, the coordinator of Cs in Lanzarote, David Rodríguez, has pointed out that "while in other islands sports activities are beginning, in Lanzarote we are still stopped and without any expectation of beginning", and has denounced that "the sports city remains closed and, as a consequence, many teams are on the verge of disappearing due to the lack of initiative".
Rodríguez has stated that "it is unacceptable that the island of sports does not have any planning for the start of activity at this point", a situation that "shows the lack of interest of the Island Council in the sports field". In this line, he has shown his "disagreement with the refusal to hold the Rally Isla Lanzarote", since "this type of competition has been carried out in other islands and other parts of Spain".
Therefore, and because "our first island institution cannot leave so many sports clubs abandoned", he has asked the Island Council to "study the different alternatives to develop sports activities with all the health and safety guarantees", to "stop having the padlock put on Lanzarote's sport". In this sense, he explained that "there are pavilions with different entrances where it is possible to give the possibility of letting, for example, two teams train".
Finally, the coordinator of Cs has insisted that "the Island Council has the obligation to propose a plan for the return to sports competitions", as well as to "clarify if there can be an audience".
